LOCAL ISSUES (LIBERATION)
During the reconquest of the French territory by the allied forces, provisional stamps were issued in some liberated cities and districts in 1944. Most of these so-called "local editions" however, found their origin in the euphoria of the fascism liberation rather than in the necessity for the numerous overprints of stamps issued during the occupation period. The production and the use of these editions were often made for philatelic or speculative purposes. Hence, only a few issues were retrospectively recognized by the French postal administration.
In our section, you will therefore not find imaginative products that may be found elsewhere on the philatelic market and we guarantee the authenticity of all offered stamps and overprints.
